Voices of the Southwest — Lot of 4 Vintage Books on Native Life, Spirit & Land

:Explore the heart, spirit, and stories of the American Southwest with this captivating lot of four vintage books—each offering a unique lens on Indigenous wisdom, desert landscapes, and cultural memory. Ranging from mystical biography to lyrical anthropology, these works trace the pulse of a region shaped by tradition, survival, and sky.

Included in this Lot:
Doug Boyd – Rolling Thunder (1974, Hardcover w/ Dust Jacket)
A deeply personal exploration into the healing powers of a revered Native American medicine man. Written in vivid, first-person narrative, this counterculture-era classic blends spiritual insight with cultural advocacy. Introduction by Dee Brown (Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee).

Frank Waters – Pumpkin Seed Point (Swallow Press, Softcover)
Waters spent years among the Hopi, absorbing their worldview and mythology. This work distills that experience into powerful reflections on identity, ritual, and the sacred structure of Indigenous life.

Charles F. Lummis – The Land of Poco Tiempo (UNM Press, Facsimile PB)
Originally published in the early 20th century, Lummis’ writing is part memoir, part ethnography. He documents Pueblo lifeways, desert architecture, and the raw beauty of New Mexico with unusual empathy and detail.

Ross Calvin – Sky Determines (UNM Press, Softcover, Revised Ed.)
A poetic meditation on how the harsh environment of the Southwest shaped its cultures, beliefs, and people. Illustrated by Peter Hurd, this cult classic interprets sun, soil, and survival as cultural forces.

Condition:
In good to very good vintage condition overall. Rolling Thunder dust jacket shows edge wear and mild age toning but is intact with clean boards and tight binding. The paperbacks have general shelf wear, light creasing, and some page yellowing. Pumpkin Seed Point shows a light stain to the upper rear corner. All books are complete and readable. Please examine the photos for close-up condition.

Dimensions:
Each book approx. 8.5 x 5.5 inches. For reference, all four are shown together in photos.
