Description

M. Fred Hirsch Sterling Tea Set, 33.57 Troy Oz, Pattern 421

A refined three-piece sterling silver tea service by M. Fred Hirsch Co., Inc., Jersey City, New Jersey, circa 1920s–1940s, totaling 33.57 troy ounces (1,044 grams) of sterling silver. This elegant set includes a teapot, covered sugar bowl, and creamer, each rendered in graceful neoclassical style with urn-shaped bodies, stepped bases, and domed finial lids.

Each piece is clearly hallmarked “STERLING” and “421”, along with Hirsch’s distinctive crown, “H,” and shield maker’s mark. The service is entirely non-weighted sterling, attesting to its full intrinsic value and fine construction — a mark of quality increasingly sought by collectors of early 20th-century American silver.

Balanced in proportion and polished in design, this Hirsch service captures the quiet elegance of its era — substantial in weight yet timeless in presence.

Condition

Good condition overall, with light surface wear and tarnish consistent with age. No major dents or structural issues observed. The set has not been polished — we’ll leave that pleasure to you.
