Pendleton “The Creation” Beaver State Robe, Wool-Cotton Blend, 80" × 64"
Pendleton Woolen Mills “The Creation” robe from the Beaver State line of robes and shawls. Jacquard-woven in a reversible pattern, the design centers on a large turtle motif representing the Iroquois creation legend, bordered by circular and geometric motifs in red, orange, blue, green, and white. One side displays the pattern on a grey field, the reverse on a deep green ground. The sewn Beaver State label notes the piece was made in recognition of the Iroquois Confederacy—Oneida, Seneca, Mohawk, Onondaga, Cayuga, and Tuscarora Nations—and inspired by the story of how the earth was formed upon the back of a turtle. The composition tag indicates a wool and cotton blend, woven in the USA.
Condition:
Fair. Visible moth damage to one side of the blanket; no tears or holes observed. Edge binding intact with light surface wear. Maker label present and legible.
