A highly regarded model from the 1980s, the TD 166 Mk II embodies Thorens’ hallmark suspended sub-chassis design, delivering quiet operation and stable, precise playback. Features include manual two-speed operation (33/45 rpm), a Thorens TP 11 Mk II tonearm, and a British-made Alchemist 1A moving magnet cartridge, prized for its rich tonal balance and clarity.
This example is particularly complete, accompanied by the original Thorens factory shipping carton marked “Made in Germany / Fabriqué en R.F.A.” and the original Alchemist 1A storage case—an uncommon inclusion that enhances authenticity and collectible value. Good condition. Tested. We recommend service with all turntables purchased for complete and thorough inspection. The plastic dust cover exhibits visible scuffs and scratches throughout. Light wear to the plinth and top plate consistent with age; presents well overall. The Alchemist 1A cartridge appears intact and is housed in its original case. Original Thorens box shows tape repairs and moderate wear.
