Handcrafted by Navajo silversmith Silver Ray (S. Ray), this pendant exemplifies the refined artistry of Southwestern Native American jewelry. The elongated pendant features a vibrant natural turquoise cabochon displaying a blue-green hue with bold brown and black matrixing, bezel-set in solid sterling silver. Surrounding the stone is a hand-tooled beaded border topped with gracefully detailed leaf and spiral motifs, classic symbols in Navajo silversmithing.
Silver Ray, a noted Navajo artisan active from the late 20th century onward, is known for his finely balanced compositions of sterling and natural turquoise. His pieces, always hand-stamped “S. Ray” and “Sterling”, are valued for their authenticity, craftsmanship, and connection to Navajo jewelry heritage. This pendant beautifully captures those qualities, combining sculptural silverwork with natural elegance.
Condition
In good vintage condition, showing light tarnish and patina appropriate to age. The turquoise remains secure in its bezel setting, with natural inclusions characteristic of untreated stone. No visible cracks or repairs. The silver has been intentionally left unpolished — we’ll leave that to the next owner.
