A captivating mid-century Santo Domingo (Kewa Pueblo) mosaic shell face brooch, artfully composed of turquoise, coral, jet, and shell tesserae. Each hand-cut piece is precisely set into a scallop shell base, forming a stylized visage—an echo of ancestral Pueblo imagery. The expressive features are framed by heishi and turquoise dangle “earrings,” creating gentle movement and balance.
This brooch embodies the work of Kewa artisans during the 1950s–1960s. Mosaic jewelry from this era carried forward centuries-old traditions once used for ceremonial adornment, now transformed into wearable art for a changing world.

Good vintage condition. Stones secure with light wear from age and handling. Minor surface irregularities and faint adhesive traces on the reverse. Pin clasp intact and functional.
