Phillip T. Guerro Navajo Sterling Bolo Tie – End of Trail & Bear Paw
A finely handcrafted Navajo sterling silver bolo tie by Phillip T. Guerro, a silversmith from Canyoncito, New Mexico, recognized for his detailed overlay work and traditional symbolism. Guerro’s hallmark “PTG” is recorded in Barton Wright’s Hallmarks of the Southwest, where his pieces are noted for their strong lines and cultural motifs.
The central round slide depicts the iconic End of the Trail figure—framed by stepped geometric engraving. Two rectangular bear paw dangles hang from sterling tips, representing courage and protection. A classic example of mid- to late-20th-century Navajo silver artistry, blending craftsmanship, symbolism, and cultural heritage.
Condition
In good vintage condition, showing mild tarnish and light surface wear consistent with age. The silver retains its natural patina, and the leather cord remains strong and flexible. Polishing has been left to the buyer’s discretion.
