Cloisonné Enamel Vase with Cherry Blossoms & Bird — Gilt Interior, on Carved Wood Stand
Finely detailed cloisonné enamel vase, likely Japanese and mid-20th century, featuring a cream ground densely patterned with gilt-wire cloud motifs. The body is adorned with hand-enamelled cherry blossoms in shades of pink and white, interspersed with green foliage and a small bird in flight — classic motifs symbolizing renewal and spring in Japanese art. The rim and interior are richly gilded, while the underside displays a deep cobalt-blue enamel ground bearing an applied paper inventory label (“1810 / VRR. NO / 8-2242”).
Executed in the shippo technique with exceptional precision, the vase is mounted on its original black carved wood stand, enhancing its elegant presentation. A fine example of 20th-century Japanese enamel work, it serves equally as a collector’s piece or refined decorative accent.
Condition:
In good condition overall, showing age-appropriate surface wear and light patina. The enamels remain bright and intact with no evident losses or repairs. Gilt areas retain strong tone with minor dulling from handling. The wood stand shows scattered wear and small nicks to edges consistent with age.
Dimensions:
Vase: 8" H x 5" Diameter
