Mid-Century West Virginia Glass Iridescent Drape Punch Bowl & 14 Roly Poly Cups
Hand blown iridescent punch set, widely attributed to West Virginia Glass Specialty Co. of Weston, West Virginia. The large rounded bowl and fourteen roly-poly cups show the company’s signature drape / “drape loop optic” pattern with polished bottoms and a rainbow “Iridescent Luster” finish that flashes blues, violets, and golds in the light. This style was produced in the 1960s as part of West Virginia Glass’s colorful mid-century drinkware lines, now sought after by collectors for their dramatic optics and playful forms.
West Virginia was one of America’s great glass centers, and West Virginia Glass Specialty was the largest maker in Weston, known for decorated and lustreware pieces—this set is a classic example of that legacy. Perfect for holiday punch, sangria, or an over-the-top cocktail service, and just as fun displayed empty where the swirling color can catch the room’s light. A lively mid-century statement piece ready for its next party.
Condition
Good condition overall with no chips, cracks, or repairs observed. Surfaces show minor signs of use—light scratches and wear on close inspection—typical of gently used vintage glass. Iridescent finish remains bright and reflective. Please review photos for a detailed view of the pattern and sheen.
