Don Quixote “En Un Lugar De La Mancha” Leather Decanter & 4 Glasses, Spain
Mid-century Spanish liquor decanter set featuring detailed leather-wrapped craftsmanship inspired by Cervantes’ Don Quixote de la Mancha. The glass decanter is embossed in high relief with scenes of Don Quixote and Sancho Panza, accompanied by the classic inscription “En un lugar de la Mancha de cuyo nombre no quiero acordarme.” Reverse side displays expressive portrait busts of both figures framed by ornate tooled patterns. Marked “Made in Spain” on the base.
This set includes four amber glass shot glasses encased in intentionally oxidized metal sleeves with applied amber orbs, complementing the decanter’s warm leather tones. Produced in Spain during the 1950s–1970s period, such sets were prized souvenirs blending literature, craftsmanship, and Spanish design tradition. A collectible piece ideal for display or themed bar settings.
Condition:
Good overall vintage condition. Leather exhibits light surface wear, scuffing, and age-appropriate patina. Metal casings on glasses show oxidation, believed to be part of the intended finish. Glass components are intact, free from chips or cracks. Stopper fits securely.
Dimensions:
- Decanter: 10" H × 4½" W × 3¼" D
- Shot Glasses: 3¾" H × 2" Diameter
