Naida Zucker Refuge: Blue Doors Signed Limited Edition Print 16/25 – Framed

Signed and numbered limited edition print (16/25) titled “Refuge: Blue Doors” by Naida Zucker, a contemporary New Mexico artist recognized for her unique fusion of digital photography and hand-applied printmaking techniques. Zucker’s process—referred to as photoHectography—combines gelatin monoprints with digital layering to produce richly textured, ethereal surfaces that merge realism with abstraction.

This composition presents a traditional adobe home featuring vivid blue-painted doors, a defining element of Southwestern architecture symbolizing protection and welcome. Zucker’s nuanced treatment of light and pigment captures the warm, tactile quality of adobe under the desert sun, while her layered approach creates a dreamlike, almost spiritual resonance. The work is pencil-signed and titled “Refuge: Blue Doors” along the lower margin, with the edition number at center.

Naida Zucker (b. 1940s, USA) is a former zoologist and university professor who transitioned to fine art, drawing upon her scientific background to explore natural form, texture, and light. Based in Las Cruces, New Mexico, she has exhibited widely throughout the Southwest and is a member of The Border Artists, a respected regional collective of painters and printmakers. Her “Refuge” series—of which this print is part—celebrates iconic sites and architectural sanctuaries across New Mexico, including Chimayó and Santa Fe.
