Description

Reuge Sainte-Croix Thuya Burl Music Box – Clair de Lune / La Golondrina, Ltd 2/50

Finely crafted Reuge Sainte-Croix Swiss music box, featuring a richly figured Thuya burl wood case with warm amber tones and swirling grain. This limited edition, numbered 2 of only 50, plays two classic melodies — “Clair de Lune” and “La Golondrina.” The interior retains the original Reuge Sainte-Croix label in decorative Art Nouveau style, and a glass viewing window allows an elegant view of the precision-made Swiss brass movement.

Founded in 1865 in the Jura Mountains of Switzerland, Reuge remains one of the world’s most respected makers of mechanical music boxes, famed for their craftsmanship and tonal clarity. The Thuya burl veneer, sourced from the Atlas Mountains of Africa, adds rarity and luxury to this piece, which represents the golden tradition of Swiss mechanical artistry and cabinetmaking. A beautiful collector’s item or refined decorative accent.

Condition

In good condition, fully functional and tested. Mechanism operates smoothly, playing both tunes clearly. Light scuffs to the exterior consistent with age; some minor debris behind the glass cover (can be opened for cleaning). Brass hardware and label show gentle patina from age. Presents attractively overall.
