Description

58" Solid Hickory Blanket Chest, Cedar-Lined, 2 Trays

A handsome, heavy blanket/hope chest in solid hickory with beveled/raised-panel sides and a scalloped base—classic workshop craft with everyday usefulness. Open the rounded-edge lid to a fully aromatic cedar interior that seals tightly (yes, that satisfying cedar scent), plus two solid-cedar sliding trays for quilts, keepsakes, or winter woolens. Brass-tone piano hinge with safety supports; likely late 20th–early 21st c. American shop work.

Why cedar? Its natural oils help discourage moths and mustiness—no sprays needed. Hickory’s lively grain gives each panel its own “landscape,” so your chest is function and conversation piece in one.

Condition
Good overall with light surface wear. Interior cedar aromatic. Note staining on the inside bottom that appears to be hinge oil drips (see photos). No structural concerns observed.

Dimensions (inches)
24.25 x 58 x 22 (H x W x D). Bob Ross (6'2") figure shown for scale.
