Description

Hopi “Shield Dancer” Kachina by Jasper White – 1987, Feathers & Leather

Hand-carved Hopi Kachina doll titled “Shield Dancer,” signed by artist Jasper White (1987) on the underside. Crafted with traditional materials including wood, leather, feathers, horsehair, and vinyl, this expressive figure depicts a ceremonial dancer poised mid-step, holding a staff and shield. The vivid palette of red, black, and white is complemented by layered feathers and detailed attire, representing strength and protection within Hopi tradition.

A fine example of 20th-century Native American craftsmanship, showcasing movement, symbolism, and handmade character
