1973 Watergate: The Game of Political Intrigue — Politico Games
An original 1973 Watergate: The Game of Political Intrigue, created by G. Neal and published by Politico Games of Redondo Beach, California. Designed and released during the height of the actual Watergate scandal, this rare satirical board game captures the political atmosphere of early 1970s America with humor and strategy. Players represent political parties competing to secure 270 electoral votes through campaign spending, backroom dealings, and opportunistic wiretaps. Featuring vivid Cold War–era artwork and bold patriotic typography, the board presents regions labeled Russia, Europe, Africa, and Latin America, blending electoral politics with international intrigue.
The game includes the folding board, currency, dice, and decks of “Opportunity,” “Connection,” and “Information” cards—each adding twists of scandal and strategy. Produced in limited numbers, this title represents one of the earliest examples of real-time political satire in board game form, preceding the modern historical interpretation of Watergate by decades. A distinctive collectible reflecting America’s post-Nixon political mood and the emerging cynicism of the 1970s.

Good vintage condition overall. The lid shows moderate wear, with corner splitting, surface creases, and edge rubbing consistent with age and storage. No major tears, stains, or writing noted.
