Mid-Century Lucite & Wood Table Lighter — Japan, Modernist Design
This mid-century modern table lighter features a bold architectural form combining clear Lucite panels with a central wood core, likely walnut, secured by a visible metal through-bolt with hex caps. The layered construction and exposed hardware give the piece a distinctly modernist, almost industrial aesthetic typical of postwar design.
The chrome lighter insert is marked “Japan,” consistent with quality decorative lighters produced during the 1960s–1970s. Both sculptural and functional, this piece works equally well as a desk accessory, bar accent, or display object for collectors of modern design.
Condition
In very good vintage condition with light surface wear consistent with age. The Lucite shows minor scuffs and handling marks, the wood has natural grain variation and small age-related marks, and the metal components display light finish wear. Lighter mechanism is present and intact; functionality has not been tested.
