Description

Hopi “White Dove” Buffalo Kachina – Hand Carved & Painted, Signed Base

Hopi carved and painted wooden Kachina figure titled “White Dove.” This expressive carving depicts the Buffalo Kachina, a powerful symbol of strength, endurance, and abundance in Hopi ceremonial tradition. The figure is finely detailed, featuring a feathered headdress, turquoise armbands, and a geometric red, white, and green kilt. It holds a bow and green stalk, both traditional emblems of life and sustenance.

Rendered in natural wood with hand-applied pigments, the Kachina rests on a circular wood base inscribed with the title White Dove and an indistinct artist’s signature. A striking example of Hopi artistry and spiritual expression.

Condition

Fair condition. One feather is absent, and another appears to have been repaired. Light surface wear and minor scuffing visible, consistent with age and handling. The figure remains structurally sound and visually compelling.
