Nichols & Stone Windsor Captain’s Armchair — Black Finish, Maker Marked
Classic Nichols & Stone Co. Windsor-style captain’s armchair, crafted in Gardner, Massachusetts. This traditional New England design features a thick 1¾-inch carved seat, turned legs with stretcher supports, and a spindle back with sculpted maple-toned arms. Finished in a deep black lacquer, the chair retains both its impressed Nichols & Stone maker’s mark and the original yellow label beneath the seat. A small plaque once affixed to the crest rail has had the original owner’s name removed.
A sturdy and handsome example of mid-century American craftsmanship—ideal for a study, desk, or accent seating.
Condition:
In good overall condition with visible wear consistent with age and use. Scuffs, scratches, dings, and dents are present throughout, including surface wear to the seat and legs. Structurally solid and sits evenly.
