Isidro Ortiz Mata Ortiz Pottery Jar w/ Ring
This hand-painted pottery jar is attributed to Isidro Ortiz of Mata Ortiz, Mexico, featuring bold geometric panel designs inspired by Paquimé traditions. The compact, rounded form is decorated in terracotta, black, sage green, and muted blue, with repeating zigzags, stepped motifs, and circular elements arranged in clean, graphic bands.
The underside is signed “Isidro Ortiz”.
Condition:
In fair condition, with visible scratches, paint wear, and shelf wear throughout. Areas of surface loss are present, particularly on darker painted sections. No cracks or structural breaks observed. Wear is consistent with handling and display.
