Art Nouveau Tooled Leather Frame Bag, Turn-Loc Clasp, c.1915–25
Warm chestnut leather, hand-tooled with a graceful Art Nouveau floral wreath, gives this petite frame bag irresistible charm. The braided leather strap connects to an iron frame fitted with a brass TURN-LOC drop—an early turn-lock style seen on American frames of the 1910s–1920s, often associated with JEMCO (comparable period examples noted). Inside is a soft suede lining with two slip pockets. Compact and sculptural, this is a display-worthy accessory that still opens and locks as intended. A charming addition for collectors of Nouveau/Arts & Crafts leatherwork.
Condition
Good overall with honest use: general scuffing and surface creasing to leather; oxidation and finish wear to the iron/metal frame; two small areas of wear/breaks to the edge lacing/trim; interior suede with handling wear. Clasp operates and locks.
Dimensions (inches)
7.5 x 6 x 1.5 (H x W x D).
