DIA Glass Display Cabinet Brass Cream Mirrored
This Design Institute America (DIA) glass display cabinet showcases a refined late 20th-century modern design, constructed with polished brass framing, cream-toned lacquered vertical columns, and expansive glass panels. The cabinet features two hinged glass doors, a mirrored back, and four removable 1/4" thick glass shelves, offering flexible display configurations and strong visual depth.
Design Institute America was active primarily from the 1970s through the 1990s and is recognized for producing high-quality metal, glass, and mirror furnishings with architectural lines suited for residential and commercial interiors. This example retains its original top-mounted interior light fixtures, emphasizing the cabinet’s intended function as a display or curio case. Its tall proportions and reflective surfaces make it an effective statement piece for showcasing collectibles, sculpture, or decorative objects.
Condition
In good condition overall, with visible finish wear and areas of finish loss consistent with age and use. The cabinet has been tested and remains sturdy and structurally sound. The glass doors, shelves, and mirrored back are intact; however, one shelf edge shows a small chip, as documented in close-up images. Additional cosmetic wear is present to the lacquered columns, including scuffs, scratches, and small areas of paint loss. Brass surfaces show surface wear and light abrasions. Interior lighting has been tested and does not work.
