DIA Glass Display Cabinet Brass Black Mirrored
This Design Institute America (DIA) glass display cabinet exemplifies late 20th-century American modern design, combining polished brass framing with black lacquered vertical columns and expansive glass panels. The cabinet features two hinged glass doors, a mirrored back, and four removable 1/4" thick glass shelves, offering flexible and visually striking display space.
Design Institute America was active primarily from the 1970s through the 1990s and is known for producing refined metal-and-glass furnishings with clean architectural lines. Cabinets of this type were designed for high-end residential interiors, galleries, and retail environments. Integrated top-mounted interior lighting fixtures are present, reflecting the original design intent to highlight displayed objects. With its tall, narrow proportions and reflective interior, this cabinet functions as both a practical display piece and a strong visual statement.
Condition
In good condition overall, with visible finish wear and areas of finish loss consistent with age and prior use. The cabinet has been tested and remains sturdy and structurally sound. The glass doors, shelves, and mirrored back are intact. Interior lighting has been tested and does not work. Cosmetic wear to the brass and black lacquered surfaces is present, as shown in photos.
