Antique Solid Oak Round Pedestal Dining Table w/ (4) Pressed Back Cane Chairs
A fine antique American solid oak dining suite, likely dating to the early 20th century, featuring a 48.5-inch round pedestal table and four matching pressed-back spindle chairs with cane seats. The table displays a 0.75-inch thick top, 24-inch apron height, and bold 10-inch octagonal pedestal with 3-inch thick scrolled legs — all in solid oak with no veneers. Two custom (later) 10-inch functional extensions accompany the table, allowing expanded dining space while preserving its original character.
The four coordinating chairs feature turned spindles, carved press-back crests, and woven cane seats, combining durability and decorative appeal typical of the “Golden Oak” period. The set’s design and craftsmanship embody the enduring quality of early American furniture makers.
Condition:
Good overall condition consistent with age. Table surface shows finish wear. The pedestal base has an old repair. Chairs are sturdy, with mild edge wear, scuffing, and finish variation. Fully stable and suitable for display, daily use, or gentle restoration.
