1967 Canada 20 Dollars – Gold, Elizabeth II
1967 Canada 20 Dollars, struck in gold by the Royal Canadian Mint for the Confederation Centennial commemorative series.
The obverse features a right-facing bust of Queen Elizabeth II, wearing a tiara, with draped neckline, encircled by the legend ELIZABETH II · D·G· REGINA. A beaded border surrounds the portrait.
The reverse displays the crowned Arms of Canada, supported by a lion and a unicorn, with flags to either side. The motto A MARI USQUE AD MARE appears on a scroll below the shield, with decorative floral elements beneath. The date 1967 is positioned above the arms, while the denomination 20 DOLLARS flanks the design. A beaded border completes the reverse.
This gold issue formed part of Canada’s 1967 Centennial coinage, a commemorative program marking the 100th anniversary of Confederation. The gold denominations were produced primarily for collectors and presentation purposes rather than for general circulation.
