1953 Mexico Cinco Pesos – Silver, Mo Mint
This is a 1953 Mexican United States Cinco Pesos silver coin, struck for circulation at the Mexico City Mint, bearing the “Mo” mint mark.
The obverse depicts a left-facing bust of Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, encircled by a laurel wreath tied at the base, with the name “HIDALGO” incuse below the portrait.
The reverse features the national coat of arms of Mexico: an eagle standing on a cactus while grasping a serpent in its beak and talon. Surrounding legends read “ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS.” Below the central device appear the inscriptions “PESO,” “27 7 G,” and “LEY 0.720,” with the denomination “CINCO PESOS” and the date “1953” at the bottom. A clear “Mo” mint mark is present below the denomination, indicating the Mexico City Mint.
