1973 Netherlands 10 Gulden – Silver Commemorative
Issued in 1973 by the Kingdom of the Netherlands, this silver 10 Gulden commemorative coin was struck as legal tender to mark the 25th anniversary of the reign of Queen Juliana (1948–1973). The issue was produced by the Royal Dutch Mint and released for public distribution.
The obverse bears a right-facing portrait of Queen Juliana. The surrounding legend reads “JULIANA REGINA,” with the dates “1948” and “1973” placed to either side of the portrait. The inscription “4 SEPTEMBER” appears below, denoting the anniversary date of her accession to the throne. A toothed border encloses the design.
The reverse features the crowned coat of arms of the Netherlands within a shield, depicting the rampant lion holding a sword and a bundle of arrows. The denomination “NEDERLAND 10 GULDEN” encircles the central motif. The date is divided as “19” and “73” to either side above the crown. A small mint mark symbol is present to the right of the shield; no lettered mint mark is visible. The reverse is also enclosed by a toothed border.
