1976 Sweden 50 Kronor – Silver Royal Wedding Commemorative
This is a 1976 Swedish 50 Kronor silver commemorative coin, issued by the Kingdom of Sweden to mark the royal wedding of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Silvia Sommerlath on 19 June 1976, and produced as a non-circulating commemorative issue.
The obverse presents conjoined facing busts of King Carl XVI Gustaf at right and Queen Silvia at left. The wedding date “19·JUNI·1976” appears along the upper periphery. Below the portraits is a small floral device, with the inscriptions “KONUNG·CARL·XVI·GUSTAF” and “DROTTNING·SILVIA” arranged in two lines near the lower rim.
The reverse displays the crowned greater coat of arms of Sweden, supported by two crowned lions rampant. The shield is quartered with the Three Crowns and Folkunga Lion arms, with a crowned inescutcheon at center, and encircled by the chain and badge of the Order of the Seraphim. The denomination “50 KR” appears at the bottom. Small letters are visible near the rim flanking the denomination, consistent with Swedish mint and official marks as struck.
