1889 Venezuela Five Bolívares – Silver
This silver Five Bolívares coin was issued in 1889 by the Estados Unidos de Venezuela for general circulation. No mint mark is visible on the obverse or reverse, and the images do not indicate a specific mint of manufacture.
The obverse features a left-facing bust of Simón Bolívar, with the legend BOLÍVAR at left and LIBERTADOR at right. The engraver’s surname BARRE appears below the truncation of the bust. The portrait is enclosed by a denticulated border.
The reverse displays the national arms of Venezuela, with a central shield flanked by branches and surmounted by a wreath. A ribbon below bears the inscriptions 19 DE ABRIL 1810 and 28 DE MARZO 1864, with DIOS Y FEDERACIÓN across the lower scroll. Surrounding legends read ESTADOS UNIDOS DE VENEZUELA, with GRAM 25 • 900 • LEI and the date 1889 below, flanked by small stars. No mint mark is present.
