1996 Reno Hilton Casino $10 Silver Strike – Barrel Racing – .999 Silver, Encapsulated
This listing features a Reno Hilton Casino $10 gaming token, issued in Reno, Nevada and recorded as a 1996 issue, though undated on the token itself. The piece is a bimetallic Silver Strike–format token consisting of a .999 fine silver center encased within a brass outer ring. These tokens were produced for use in casino gaming machines and were also retained by patrons as collectible souvenirs.
The obverse displays RENO HILTON surrounding a large Roman numeral X, with RENO, NEV. below. The brass outer ring bears the inscription LIMITED EDITION TEN DOLLAR GAMING TOKEN around the upper periphery and .999 PURE SILVER at the lower periphery, separated by small circular devices.
The reverse features a western-themed barrel racing scene depicting a rider on horseback rounding a barrel, with fencing and distant mountains in the background. The surrounding brass ring repeats LIMITED EDITION TEN DOLLAR GAMING TOKEN, with RENO HILTON at the bottom. Western imagery of this type was commonly used by Reno casinos during the 1990s to emphasize regional identity. The token is housed in a protective capsule.
