N&R Nez Sterling Turquoise Cluster Pendant Brooch Navajo
This striking sterling silver turquoise cluster pendant/brooch is signed N&R Nez, the mark of Navajo artists Nathaniel & Rosemary Nez. The bold circular design features an impressive 42 elongated turquoise stones arranged in layered concentric rows around a single round turquoise center stone, all set in serrated bezels. Twisted wire detailing and polished silver elements enhance the dimensionality and symmetry of this traditional Southwestern cluster form.
Marked Sterling on the reverse, the piece is fitted with both a secure pin back and an integrated bail, offering versatile wear as either a pendant or brooch. Each turquoise stone was individually hand-set, a process that is highly time intensive in traditional Navajo silversmithing. With a total of 43 stones, the setting work alone would have required an estimated 10 to 18 hours of skilled labor, not including fabrication of the silver base, decorative elements, pin mechanism, or bail.

In good condition overall, with visible surface wear and patina consistent with age and use. All stones are secure in their settings. No visible breaks or repairs noted. Polishing has been intentionally left to the next owner.
