This remarkable concho belt by Navajo-Sioux artisan Mary Ellen Coleman is a commanding work of wearable art. Meticulously handcrafted in solid sterling silver, it features twelve large conchos—alternating between bold diamond-shaped forms set with denim lapis lazuli and sculptural hearts adorned with luminous purple charoite from Russia.
Each concho has been individually hand-shaped, stamped, and bezel-set by the artist, demonstrating a masterful command of form, texture, and proportion. The heart-shaped buckle, serving as both closure and focal point, is inscribed on the reverse with exceptional detail:

Condition
Good vintage condition. The sterling silver has developed a soft, natural patina, enhancing the depth of the hand-stamped designs. Minor surface wear is visible under close inspection, consistent with age. All stones are securely set, and the original black leather strap remains strong and functional, showing only light wear at the adjustment holes. Polishing has been left to the discretion of the collector.
