Description

1960s–70s Navajo Cerrillos Turquoise Heishi Necklace & Earrings Set – 320g, 151 Stones

From a fine estate collection of Native American jewelry, this outstanding vintage Navajo necklace and earring set was handcrafted in the 1960s–1970s using natural, untreated Cerrillos turquoise, one of the most revered turquoise sources in New Mexico. The necklace features 151 graduated, hand-cut heishi beads in a rich spectrum of green-blue hues with dark matrix characteristic of Cerrillos origin. The strand is finished with traditional dark wool wrapping at the neckline and closes with an unmarked but period-consistent sterling silver hook-and-eye clasp. A pair of matching earrings showcases stacked turquoise slabs with sterling silver coil and ball detailing on post backs.

This set exemplifies mid-century Navajo artistry — blending traditional form with bold scale and natural materials. With its substantial weight, classic construction, and organic turquoise texture, it embodies the aesthetic power and cultural depth of authentic Southwestern jewelry.

Condition

Excellent vintage condition. All stones are intact, with no chips, cracks, or repairs. The turquoise shows natural surface pitting and variation consistent with untreated Cerrillos material. The sterling silver components exhibit a light, even patina appropriate to age. The hand-wrapped wool remains secure and clean. The necklace hangs evenly, and the earrings are balanced and wearable.
