Transitional Navajo Sterling Silver Turquoise Dangle Earrings c. 1950s–60s
These sterling silver and turquoise earrings are representative of the Navajo Transitional period of the mid-20th century, when traditional silversmithing techniques were adapted to more elongated and decorative forms. The earrings feature floral-inspired stud tops set with turquoise cabochons, from which extend twisted wire elements supporting articulated drop sections. Each earring terminates with three suspended silver dangles, creating movement and balance while emphasizing the silversmith’s metalwork.
The restrained use of turquoise as accent stones, combined with an emphasis on silver construction, is consistent with Navajo jewelry aesthetics of the 1950s–1960s.
