Zuni/Navajo Sterling Multistone Inlay Earrings – Turquoise Lapis Sugilite
These finely sterling silver drop earrings are attributable to Zuni or Navajo origin. Marked Sterling, each earring is constructed around an open oval center framed by expertly executed three-dimensional multistone inlay composed of turquoise, lapis lazuli, sugilite, and spiny oyster shell. The stones are not flat-cut; instead, they are subtly contoured and shaped in relief, demonstrating advanced lapidary skill and giving the inlay depth and sculptural presence.
The surrounding silver is hand stamped and engraved. A polished sugilite cabochon crowns each earring, completing the design. The precision 3D inlay strongly aligns with Zuni lapidary traditions, while the heavier silver and stamped decoration are also consistent with Navajo craftsmanship. In the absence of an artist hallmark, the earrings are most accurately described as Zuni or Navajo, dating to the late 20th century. Finished with post backs, this pair has substantial weight and strong collector appeal.
