Mid-Century Dazor Flying Saucer Lamp
A maker-marked Dazor Model 2004 “Flying Saucer” desk lamp, produced circa 1955–1962, a period when Dazor’s Space-Age forms helped define the look of postwar American lighting. This example features the company’s signature combination of brass armature, weighted base, and a sculptural saucer shade paired with a fiberglass globe-style diffuser that casts a warm, atmospheric glow. The adjustable arm and column allow a height range of 6 1/4" to 16 1/2", offering both directed illumination and ambient light.
The Model 2004 is prized for its expressive silhouette—part industrial, part futuristic—and remains one of Dazor’s most collectible designs. Retaining its original maker’s mark and UL inspection label, this fully functional lamp exemplifies mid-century American craftsmanship and the optimism of the early Space Age. A refined addition to any modern interior, reading desk, or curated lighting collection.
CONDITION
In good condition with signs of use. Scuffing to surfaces, visible toning to the brass, and isolated areas of discoloration to the fiberglass globe/diffuser. The top shade may have been previously painted. Discoloring is visible on the globe as shown. Fully functional and tested.
