Tonka No. 518 AAA Wrecker Truck – 1964–66 Pressed-Steel Tow Truck
This vintage Tonka No. 518 AAA Wrecker Truck dates to approximately 1964–66 and features the classic mid-1960s Tonka pickup body with embossed grille, white enamel steel finish, and the original “Tonka AAA Wrecker Truck” and “24 HR. SERVICE” decals. The red cut-out pressed-steel boom, metal winch crank, cable, and hook are all consistent with this production period, as are the whitewall Tonka tires with chrome hubs. The underside bears the correct U.S. Patent 3,108,981 marking used on Tonka chassis in the mid-1960s.
A desirable addition for collectors of Tonka’s Action Vehicles line, this example captures the rugged, realistic design that defined the brand’s golden era. Strong display presence and classic AAA branding make it an appealing showcase piece.
Condition:
In good overall condition with visible signs of use, including scratches, scuffing, and areas of finish wear and loss throughout. Scuffs and scratches are present on both the body and boom assembly. One rear brake light is missing, as shown in the photos. Please review all images for a full representation of condition.
