Description

Kilburg Geochron KG-110-60 World Time Clock, 1974, Docs & Hardware

This Kilburg Geochron® Model KG-110-60 is an exceptional and beautifully preserved example of the iconic mechanical world time clock engineered by Everett L. Kilburg and produced by Geochron Enterprises in Redwood City, California. Originally purchased new in 1974 by our client, the piece is accompanied by its original documentation, manuals, invoices, and mounting hardware—an unusually complete ensemble that significantly elevates its historical and collectible value.

The clock presents the classic illuminated Mercator projection map, animated by a synchronous AC motor that drives the continuous movement of the day–night shading band, world time zones, date-line calendar, and day-of-week indicator. These complex mechanical systems—no longer manufactured—represent the golden age of precision analog timekeeping. The vibrant 1970s map graphics, aluminum-trimmed viewing window, and black leatherette case exemplify the period when Geochron refined these clocks into their most recognizable form.

Fully functional and tested, with all lighting and mechanical components operating as designed, this example offers both visual drama and scientific fascination. Mechanical Geochrons from this era are increasingly scarce, and few survive with complete provenance and original accessories. As a kinetic display object, educational tool, and design icon, it stands as a centerpiece that educates, engages, and enchants—a compelling acquisition for collectors, navigators, pilots, and admirers of mid-century engineering.

CONDITION

In good, fully functional condition. Tested—lights illuminate evenly, and all mechanical components rotate and operate as specified. Minor visible wear to the corners consistent with age, but no issues affecting display quality or performance. Original documentation, manuals, invoices, and mounting hardware are included.
