Columbus Sets Sail Again: German Porcelain Stein & 2L Wiegand Jug
Offered here is a captivating duo of German drinkware that blends craftsmanship, history, and brewing culture. First, a porcelain historical stein pitcher, richly decorated with vivid scenes from world history—including an appearance by Columbus—paired with its classic metal handle and swing-top lid. Maker marked on the underside, this piece reflects the tradition of German commemorative steins produced in the late 20th century.
Its companion is a 2-liter amber swing-top jug, crafted by Wiegand Glas, one of Germany’s major bottle makers. Molded with “Muster Geschützt” (meaning “design protected”), this vessel once served as a reusable brewery transport bottle—functional, sturdy, and wonderfully nostalgic.
Condition
Both vessels are in good condition with no damage noted. Light wear consistent with age is present, but each remains stable, clean, and visually appealing. Swing-top assemblies appear complete.
