This finely turned mesquite vessel by Sherwood Hoffman—signed on the base as “S. Hoffman”—is crafted from a single solid piece of wood, exemplifying the artist’s Southwestern studio-woodturning style. The warm mesquite grain displays rich natural figuring, enhanced by a continuous band of crushed turquoise inlay featuring twin lines and evenly spaced dot motifs. The rounded shoulders and smooth, wide mouth reflect Hoffman’s precise shaping and clean, minimalist form typical of his work from the 1990s–2010s.
A strong example of Hoffman’s use of mesquite and turquoise, this vessel offers both sculptural appeal and collectible value. Ideal as a display piece in contemporary, rustic, or Southwestern interiors.
