Framed Grandmother’s Flower Garden Quilt Fragment, 31" x 43"
This artwork features an authentic mid-20th-century Grandmother’s Flower Garden quilt fragment, hand-pieced from hundreds of cotton hexagons using the traditional English paper-piecing technique. The pastel calicos, feed-sack florals, and soft yellows date the textile to approximately the 1930s–1940s, a period when this rosette pattern was especially popular. These vintage prints create a charming field of blooming motifs, now preserved as wall art.
The quilt top is mounted within a dark wood frame fitted with a linen-textured mat and silver-tone inner liner, likely added in the late 20th century. A warm and nostalgic decorative piece, it offers both visual appeal and a glimpse into American domestic craft history.
CONDITION
In good decorative condition overall. Frame shows noticeable scratching, and the backing paper is torn throughout, exposing the inner stretcher and foam mounting board. The linen matting exhibits staining and foxing, while the quilt fragment shows age-related discoloration and scattered spots typical of vintage textiles. Structurally secure and ready to hang. Please review all photos for complete details.
