Justrite Brass Carbide Miner’s Lamp w/ Reflector, Early 20th C., USA
This early 20th-century Justrite carbide miner’s lamp showcases the classic brass construction and reflector style produced by the Justrite Manufacturing Company during the height of carbide-lamp use, roughly 1910–1935. Marked “Justrite,” “Made in U.S.A.,” and bearing patent no. 115123, it reflects the period when carbide illumination was a major advancement in mining—offering brighter, more reliable light before the widespread adoption of electric headlamps. The two-chamber design, hinged filler cap, drip-control lever, and polished reflector are all consistent with documented Justrite production referenced in early company catalogs and examples held in museum collections.
A striking piece of industrial mining history, this lamp displays beautifully and represents the technological shift from flame lighting to early electrification. A solid addition for collectors of mining artifacts, carbide lamps, or early American industrial design.
