Western Stoneware 3-Gallon Double-Decorated Crock
This 3-gallon Western Stoneware Co. crock from Monmouth, Illinois is a desirable double-decorated example, featuring both the classic cobalt-blue maple leaf capacity stamp and an additional floral stencil on the reverse. Double-decorated Western pieces are less common and are particularly sought after by collectors. The maple-leaf mark and stylized cobalt floral motif align with the company’s 1925–1940 production period, during which Western produced some of its most visually appealing utilitarian stoneware.
Constructed of salt-glazed stoneware with a rolled rim and thick walls, the crock displays the characteristic weight and craftsmanship of interwar Western Stoneware. Its clear blue stenciling and clean form make it an excellent decorative accent for Americana, farmhouse, or primitive interiors, while remaining fully functional for storage or display.
