Description

C.C. Cunningham Mixed Media Abstract on Canvas, Signed, 10x8

This striking mixed-media abstract by C.C. Cunningham showcases the artist’s hallmark use of vivid color, dynamic linework, and deeply textured surfaces. Rendered in layered blues, teals, and violets, the composition features raised black accents and fluid contour markings that move rhythmically across the canvas. Cunningham’s technique—combining tactile texture with expressive linear forms—creates a sense of organic motion and depth.

The piece is signed “C.C. Cunningham” at the lower left and again on the verso. Painted on a deep gallery-wrapped canvas, the artwork extends cleanly around the edges, allowing it to be displayed unframed for a modern, sculptural presence. A strong example of Cunningham’s Southwest-inspired abstraction, this work exemplifies her distinctive textural language and vibrant palette.

Artist Biography:

C.C. Cunningham (American, b. 1949) is a contemporary painter based in Las Cruces, New Mexico, celebrated for her richly textured, color-saturated acrylics that merge abstraction and figuration. Inspired by the landscapes and light of the American Southwest, Cunningham incorporates sand and natural pigments into her layered surfaces, creating tactile works that embody energy, emotion, and a deep connection to the land. Her paintings have been exhibited throughout the Southwest and are held in numerous private collections.
