Vintage Stoneware 5-Gallon Water Cooler w/ Lid & Blue Bands
This 5-gallon stoneware water cooler features a classic cylindrical form with crisp cobalt-blue banding and a matching domed lid. The simple cobalt “5” capacity stamp, buff clay body with fine speckling, and salt-glazed surface are characteristic of mid-20th-century American stoneware, likely produced by Robinson Ransbottom or another Ohio Valley pottery known for durable utilitarian wares. The molded construction, factory-drilled spigot opening, and period-appropriate lid style further support this attribution.
A later plastic spigot has been fitted, but the cooler retains its substantial presence and traditional farmhouse appeal. Its clean, practical design displays well in rustic, country, and vintage-inspired interiors. The Campbell’s soup can in the photos provides helpful scale. A strong, attractive example of mid-century stoneware suitable for décor or collection.
Condition
In good vintage condition with age-appropriate wear, minor glaze marks, and typical surface discoloration. Base shows expected firing roughness and rubbing. Spigot is a non-original plastic replacement. Please review photos for additional detail.
