Cherie Gamboa 2019 Copper, Feather & Suede Hand-Crafted Figure, 24"
This signed 2019 mixed-media figure by New Mexico artist Cherie Gamboa showcases her distinctive use of copper, natural materials, and hand-tooled embellishment. Crafted from wood, feathers, copper, fur, micro suede, glass beads, and stone, the sculpture features a copper mask framed by vibrant feathers, a textured suede garment with fur accents, carved details, and a tooled copper shield. It stands on a 1-inch-thick stone base, signed clearly by the artist.
Artist Biography: Cherie Gamboa is a Las Cruces–based mixed-media sculptor known for combining hammered copper with organic elements such as leather, feathers, fur, and stone. Active in regional art circles and associated with The Artists of Picacho Hills, her work often explores Southwest-inspired “spirit” themes and appears in New Mexico estate and gallery auctions.
A striking, substantial display piece with strong decorative and collectible appeal.
Condition
In excellent condition with no remarkable damage. Surfaces, beadwork, feathers, and copper elements appear clean and intact. The stone base is solid, showing only natural variations consistent with the material.
