Kohler Velvet Mesquite Lamp w/ Copper Shade & Turquoise Inlay, Maker-Marked

Handcrafted by New Mexico artisan W. Kohler in his La Luz studio, this sculptural lamp celebrates the raw beauty of the desert landscape. The base is formed from Velvet Mesquite, shaped to preserve a dramatic live edge that showcases the tree’s natural contours and organic movement. Kohler enhances this surface with his signature crushed turquoise inlay, settling the vivid blue stone into the wood’s natural fissures for a striking visual contrast.

Above it rises a hand-formed solid copper shade, fully maker-marked and displaying individually cut motifs that cast warm, shifting patterns of light—one of Kohler’s trademark artistic techniques. The combination of live-edge mesquite, turquoise inlay, and patinated copper gives the lamp a presence that feels both rooted and radiant, making it an exceptional example of contemporary Southwestern studio craft.

CONDITION

Excellent condition with no damage and only light signs of gentle use. The Velvet Mesquite base is clean and smooth, the turquoise inlay is intact, and the copper shade shows beautiful intentional patination consistent with Kohler’s handmade process.
