Antique Flat-Top Wood & Steel Travel Trunk w/ Casters

This antique flat-top travel trunk, dating to around 1890–1910, is constructed from wood with blackened steel hardware, reinforcing bands, and a steel-clad bottom designed for early rail and steamship travel. It retains its original metal casters, decorative pressed-steel latches, and worn leather strap remnants, all of which highlight its late-Victorian American craftsmanship. The interior features its original patterned paper lining in a classic herringbone-style print, offering a warm period aesthetic. This trunk provides substantial storage and makes an excellent decorative accent for rustic, industrial, or vintage-inspired spaces.

Some hardware components appear to be later replacements, though the majority of fittings remain consistent with early trunk manufacture. A character-rich and functional piece of historic travel gear.

Condition

Shows stains and age-appropriate wear, including scratches, patina to steel hardware, and dryness to remaining leather. Some replacement hardware is present. No key included, and the interior tray is absent. Paper lining shows typical age toning but remains intact.
