Chinese Hardwood Duobaoge-Style Display Cabinet w/ Brass Hardware
This solid wood display cabinet is crafted in the traditional duobaoge (curio) style, featuring a sculptural arrangement of seven fixed shelves ranging from 6" to 18" in height. The stepped, geometric layout evokes classic scholar’s cabinets while providing a dynamic setting for ceramics, carvings, and collectible objects. The upper section includes four glass-panel doors, mirrored side access doors, and brass hardware with working locks and keys. Glass sides allow light to illuminate the interior, showcasing the varied shelf levels.
Constructed in two pieces for easier transport, the cabinet’s lower portion offers enclosed storage behind two wood-panel doors, fitted with a removable 9" shelf. The brass moon plates and lock mechanisms reference traditional Chinese cabinetry while reflecting later twentieth-century workshop production. A handsome, functional piece that brings both decorative presence and display versatility to any interior.
Condition
In good overall condition with light wear from use. Brass hardware shows oxidation, and minor surface marks are present on the wood finish. Doors open and close smoothly, glass panels are intact, and all shelving is secure. The removable lower shelf shows a lighter tone than the main case.
