Solid Rosewood Lighted Display Cabinet w/ Deep Dragon Carvings
This impressive solid rosewood Chinese display cabinet combines traditional craftsmanship with late-20th-century export-era design, offering a substantial and visually striking showcase for fine objects. The upper vitrine features beveled glass panels, a mirrored back, and warm incandescent interior lighting, activated by an in-line switch. A removable front glass panel allows full access for arranging taller pieces. Inside are seven fixed glass shelves with graduated heights (9", 10", 14", 15", and 18") along with an additional 8" removable wood shelf, creating versatile staging for porcelain, carvings, or curated collections.
The lower section presents deeply carved dragon doors — a hallmark symbol of protection, strength, and auspicious fortune — executed in solid rosewood with pronounced relief. This, combined with the stepped geometric shelf layout reminiscent of traditional scholars’ display forms, elevates the piece far above standard curios. Its scale, materials, and workmanship align with high-quality late-20th-century Chinese hardwood furniture made for the Western luxury décor market.
CONDITION
Good overall condition and fully functional. Lighting tested and working. Scuffing, finish wear, and areas of loss are present from use. The power cord shows a prior repair, but the lighting remains operational. All glass components, shelves, and hinges are intact, and the cabinet stands sturdy.
