Jay L. Tschudy Copper/Brass/Steel Wall Sculpture w/ COA – 84/125
This impressive mixed-metal wall sculpture is an original handmade work by Jay L. Tschudy (American, b. 1963), an Arizona-based metal artist known for his copper, brass, and steel creations inspired by Southwestern and Native textile motifs. Titled Native Rug XXVI and numbered 84/125, this 2013 edition showcases Tschudy’s signature patinated surfaces, layered geometric forms, and his distinctive “woven-metal” fringe along the ends. The rich coloration—achieved through heat patination and hand-applied treatments—creates dynamic reds, turquoise accents, and warm brass tones centered around a raised circular medallion.
Tschudy, a self-taught artist of Blackfoot descent, is recognized for transforming traditional themes into contemporary metal sculpture. His works appear frequently in Western and Native-influenced art markets and are collected for their craftsmanship and bold presence. This piece is signed on the reverse and includes the Certificate of Authenticity, hang tag, and artist biography card. Displays vertically or horizontally.
CONDITION
In excellent condition with no observed flaws. Surface variations and coloration are intentional patination by the artist. Edges, applied elements, and mounting surfaces are clean, with only natural handmade irregularities inherent to Tschudy’s process.
